Once again, WOW is all we have to say! Words really cant describe our experience once again. Thus, we'll share a few bullet points and show some pics...
-Did a service project in the morning at Campamento de Playa (Y Camp). Planted some trees along the entrance. We each got to plant and name a tree (sign and all!)
-some of us ate some guinea pig...pretty tasty!
-Traveled 2 1/2 hours south to Ica for our desert trip. AMAZING! Rode dune buggys through the desert. It was so intense, very comparable to riding a roller coaster. The beginning of the Andes Mountains served as a backdrop.
-Sandboarded! We went on our bellies, sitting, and even standing like a snowboard. Some of the hills were HUGE! Check out the pic...you can barely make out all the people at the bottom of the hill. It took roughly 15-20 seconds to get down...thats a long time when you're on a sandboard!
-camped out under the stars. Beautiful. We were even able to see some constellations only visible from the Southern Hemisphere (The Southern Cross, etc.)
-saw a natural mirage
-we were able to bring two new friends with us from el barrio, Manuel & Hanibol. Since they helped us work, Paco suggested they come along and hang out with us. Having them with us, along with Andres & Daniel from Columbia, made for some really fun conversations in Spanglish!
-shout out to our friend John from Camp SeaGull. He returned to the US yesterday after seving 3 months here with the Lima YMCA. He was such a big help while we were here! We pray that his adjustment back to life in the US is smooth.
Enjoy the pics!
